David La Cagnina is Vice President of Research & Development for SmartRG. He is responsible for leading SmartRG’s innovation teams and driving overall technical strategy. Since joining SmartRG in May of 2012, David has worked closely with vendors, operators, and developers to spur SmartRG innovation in connected home technologies across the company’s portfolio of software and hardware products, including SmartOS™, SmartRG Home Analytics™, and SmartRG Device Manager™.
Prior to joining SmartRG, David spent 9 years at Comtrend Corporation, most recently as Vice President of Technology, overseeing technology and product development. David previously served in various Engineering capacities at Lucent Technologies, including Senior Resident Engineer for the WorldCom/Verizon Business customer team, where he was responsible for supporting the world’s largest deployment of Lucent Core Switching and Routing products. Before joining the ranks at Lucent, David served in various Engineering roles at Network Access Solutions, a startup, facilities-based Competitive Local Exchange Carrier operating in the then-Bell Atlantic territory, where he helped build one of the first DSL-based broadband access networks in North America, focusing solely on business-class broadband services (and installed the first DSL line in the US Capitol Building!).
With over 19 years of rich experience in the computer networking space and a passion for forward-looking development of new products, services, and platforms, David and his team have helped SmartRG build a reputation for bringing exceptional products to market, designed to meet the specific requirements of Service Providers and Operators around the world.
In his free-time, David enjoys playing guitar, hiking with friends and family, and, as a native of Pittsburgh, PA, cheering on his beloved Penguins and Steelers.
