Sylvie LaPerrière is a builder of the Global Internet. She is an Interconnection Strategist for Google’s peering, caching and cloud . Before joining Google, she launched and then expanded Tata Communications’ Internet backbone in more than 25 global markets, had it circle the globe and achieved settlement-free status. Her product development and management experience is coupled with extensive bilateral experience dealing with global, regional and national telecom and Internet operators.
A recognized leader in the global Internet community, Sylvie is involved in the governance of nonprofit organisations. She chairs the Board of Directors of two Internet Exchanges (IXPs), the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) and the Montreal Internet Exchange (QIX.ca). She serves on the Board of directors of two R&D organizations, Canada’s Advanced Research and Innovation Network (CANARIE) and PROMPT (www.promptinc.org). In her local community she serves on the Board of TechnoMontreal, the private, academic and public ICT cluster whose mission is to increase and accelerate the industry’s competitiveness in Greater Montreal.
Sylvie advocates diverse talent inclusion by coaching and mentoring young ICT professionals, and by promoting Science and Technology Careers with teenagers.
She received her Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Information Systems from École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Montréal. Married with three teenagers, she enjoys discovering the world with her family.
